Myth: Most common cause of Obesity is excess food intake.
Fact: Most common cause of Obesity is hereditary. Other contributory factors are excess food intake, lack of activities, alcohol, hormonal changes etc.
Myth: Number fat cells are increased in Obesity.
Fact: The number of fat cells neither increases nor decrease but the size of fat cell increases. The size of the fat cell is increased in obesity and it is shrunken following proper exercises and balanced diet. The size of the fat cell increases on stopping the exercises.
Myth: Starvation or less diet is the way to decrease the Obesity.
Fact: Starvation or less diet causes nutrition deficiencies; thereby it is not the healthy way to tackle the obesity. Exercises to some extent are helpful to tackle the obesity. Sometimes exercises may be inadequate or practically may not be possible in severe Obesity.
